How do you build resilience in the workforce? What digital tools and skills do you need to adapt and grow professionally?
Those were some of the questions answered by Tech Goes Home Chattanooga’s Learning Agility Accelerator, a three-week program designed for entry- to mid-level professionals. The energy and enthusiasm was palpable as graduates from the first cohorts celebrated the completion of their course with a graduation and networking event.
“I was so impressed by the genuine excitement from the learners and to see how they were implementing what they were learning—they put the skills into action immediately,” said Andrew Schlemmer, TGH Tech Coach, who led the first cohort of the Learning Agility Accelerator. “So many learners developed friendships through this program. They’re already networking and supporting one another in person and online.”
Adaptability in the Workplace
Adaptability and growth mindset were the centerpieces of each session, from learning the ins-and-outs of digital platforms to building a professional social media presence, and learning professional etiquette and resilience.
“Tech Goes Home and The Enterprise Center have been at the forefront of pushing digital skills for more than a decade—the pandemic highlighted the need for the general public to have these skills. Now there’s a push within our workforce for people to have digital skills,” said Sammy Lowdermilk, Acting President and CEO of The Enterprise Center. “There’s a need for an agile, digitally skilled workforce. People need to adapt to an ever-changing landscape, and part of that is knowing how to utilize online tools to quickly adapt.”
Online Tools and Upskilling
In the Learning Agility Accelerator, students gained skills related to Google Suite, internet safety and digital literacy, and AI tools. Additionally, two guest speakers led the final classes—Tripp Stanford, a marketing consultant, and Shelley Prevost, co-founder of Big Self School and Emma AI.
“For mid-career or early career professionals, soft skills like networking and confidence in ‘marketing’ yourself can really be distinguishing,” said Melissa Callejas, Program Director of Tech Goes Home. “The Learning Agility Accelerator helps people not just with basic computer skills but with upskilling for their next career move and beyond. We look forward to continuing upskilling classes through Tech Goes Home.”
