On March 27, 2021, as a result of a fire, nearly 200 of our neighbors across the street at Patten Towers were displaced from their homes. Residents have finally been allowed to move back in, but it remains a challenging time, as many are low on supplies, furniture, and other necessities.

Hamilton County Schools EdConnect, powered by EPB, will provide no-cost high-speed internet to every student in the district who qualifies for free or reduced lunch. The program will connect 28,500 students in 17,000 homes across Hamilton County.

The program has received generous support from Hamilton County, the city of Chattanooga, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Foundation and the Smart City Venture Fund, which includes Benwood Foundation, Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga, Footprint Foundation and Robert L. And Katherina Maclellan Foundation. But, we still need to raise a portion of the cost to connect all eligible students.
